Campus Closed During School Hours

Campus Closed During School HoursAs a reminder, the Clearview campus is closed for recreational use to the public during school hours and during co-curricular activities. This includes all of our campus grounds, tennis courts, track, and sports fields. Clearview has the strong belief that our campus belongs to the local residents/tax payers, so we continue to allow the residents of Mantua and Harrison to use our facilities when school related activities are not in session. Thank you for your cooperation. Please see the communication, from our Superintendent.

Clearview Community Members:

I want to bring an issue to your attention regarding public access to our campus and facilities.  The safety of our students and staff is paramount to our district’s objectives.  As many of you know, we’ve recently made substantial investments in our infrastructure in an effort to enhance the security in and around our campus.  In an effort to bolster our security, I want to clarify the district’s policy regarding community presence on our campus during the school day.

The Board of Education’s policy #7440 – Security of School Premises, governs public access to school buildings and grounds.  Public access to school buildings and grounds while school is in session, which includes the time school starts through the end of co-curricular activities and athletic practices/games, shall be limited to personnel whose employment requires their presence on the campus and/or spectators.

The district has always embraced the philosophy that the facilities belong to the local residents/taxpayers.  To that end, we continue to allow the residents of Mantua and Harrison the opportunity to use the tennis courts, which are equipped with lights through 11:00 p.m. each evening, in addition to providing access to the track.  However, it’s imperative that this facility use is outside of the school hours.  We ask for your cooperation in an effort to allow us to enhance the security of all stakeholders.  Your support and cooperation is genuinely appreciated and will empower us to continue our district’s practice of enabling our residents to use our facilities outside of the school day hours.

Sincerely,

John Horchak III
Superintendent
